Rabbi Ezring will delve into three major issues confronting the Conservative movement while explaining how the Committee on Jewish Laws and Standards makes decisions to help us continue to evolve with American society.

Jewish Law and Ethics have never stagnated. Every generation of rabbis has needed to adjust halacha to the era in which they lived. The Boston United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism cooperative convention with the Rabbinical Assembly highlighted several issues with which we must deal.

Sunday morning, February 23rd, we will look at the history of the use of musical instruments on Shabbat and holy days. We will learn why musical instruments were prohibited and when communities began to use them again. Is there a difference using acoustic instruments or amplified instruments? Each class will run from 10:00 – noon in the Library.  Please RSVP to the office so we will know how many to set up for.
