Tisha B’Av, the 9th day of the Jewish month of Av, is the day that Jewish tradition holds that both the First and Second Temples were destroyed. We commemorate them with special services that include the reading of the dramatic Book of Lamentations as well as with a major fast day. The fast begins after the meal on Saturday evening and ends at 8:50 on Sunday night.
